Facts about Cactus

Cactuses are the plants mostly in deserts. These plants lose very little water through transpiration which is the process in which plants lose water from their leaves. The leaf like things in the cactus, is in fact its stem. Their leaves may be very small, absent or in the form of spines. Water is stored in the tissues of cacti. They have very deep roots which grow very deep into the soil for absorbing water. Camels in the desert eat cactus because they have little water which is stored in the camel's hump. They are found in every continents except Antarctica because it is a cold desert where lichens, berries, etc can grow.
